Highly recommended, easily accessable - very sentral. Traditional greek dishes to nice prices. Friendly staff.

In the pouring rain a newstand recommended the Taverna Rouvas and they were spot on: keenly priced family cooked traditional Greek dishes :) And VERY friendly service:after a first disaterous night at a dive of a hotel in Gouvia we headed back to Corfu Town the next day and turned to them for help, they gave us Wifi access and even phoned around for a new hotel (no mean feat given that Expedia had squat to offer to relodge us)! In the end we found a LOVEY flat near one of the hotels the restruarant owner had suggested: great food and go-out-of-their-way service, what more can you ask for?? Respect :)

As you leave the M & S store, turn right, then take first right and after 10 metres is Rouvas Taverna. If it is getting late in the afternoon, you'll be lucky if it's still open. When the food has gone, they close and that's it! The food is to die for, visit the kitchen to see what's on offer [and draught Corfu Brewery beer is available, Ionian Gold during our visit]. Mostly populated by the locals, a good sign, and with photos of Rick Stein cooking and dining adorning the walls should give some idea as to the quality. I had Beef Pastisada, georgeous and my with had Sorfrito with mashed potatoes. I would recomment this taverna to all, but get there early!!!
